FFA · 4-H · Agribusiness · Rural Arizona
Agriculture is one of Arizona's largest industries — and one of the best-funded scholarship ecosystems for students who know where to look. FFA, 4-H, and agribusiness scholarships routinely go unclaimed because Arizona students don't know they exist.
Arizona's agricultural sector — spanning cotton, citrus, lettuce, cattle ranching, and emerging vertical farming — supports a rich scholarship ecosystem that most students outside FFA or 4-H never discover. The Arizona FFA Foundation awards more than $200,000 in scholarships annually to FFA members. Arizona's county farm bureaus (Maricopa, Pima, Yuma, Yavapai) all fund local agricultural scholarships. The University of Arizona's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences offers both merit and need-based institutional awards to Arizona students. For students in rural communities, the National FFA Organization's Collegiate Scholarship Program and the Farm Credit Services agricultural scholarship programs offer substantial funding. Native agricultural programs through the Intertribal Agriculture Council specifically support Indigenous students pursuing agricultural careers.

Things worth knowing
Arizona FFA Foundation scholarships are open to all active FFA members — not just show winners
The Arizona FFA Foundation awards dozens of scholarships each year, and most do not require winning at State FFA. Active membership, a personal statement, and demonstrated passion for agricultural careers qualify most applicants. The application opens every fall.
County farm bureau scholarships have small applicant pools
The Maricopa, Yuma, Pima, and Cochise County Farm Bureau all run scholarship programs restricted to students from those counties. Because they are local and not widely advertised, the applicant pools are small — often under 50 students competing for multiple awards.
UA's College of Agriculture has dedicated in-state merit scholarships that stack with national FFA awards
If you are accepted to the University of Arizona's CALS program, institutional merit awards can stack with outside FFA or 4-H scholarships. Apply for the institutional award through UA's scholarship portal at the same time you apply for external agricultural scholarships.
