Stonemasons build and restore walls, buildings, and monuments from stone, brick, and block — a skilled building trade you can enter through a paid apprenticeship, not a four-year degree. Here's the roadmap.
The paid apprenticeship is the heart — you earn while you learn, with little or no debt
Masonry rewards strength, precision, and craft, not a diploma. Land a paid apprenticeship through a union or contractor and earn while you master cutting, laying, and setting stone and brick. Log your hours toward journeyman, and from there experience moves you up to foreman, estimator, or your own masonry business.
Keep going: see whether the trades are worth it, compare becoming a carpenter, and check if it will pay off.
