An essay contest in which students write a biography of about 500 to 1,000 words based mainly on an interview they conduct with a woman, or a person of an underrepresented gender identity, who works in or has retired from a mathematical sciences career. Middle school, high school, and undergraduate students can enter, with a category for grades 9 to 12. Submissions for the 2027 contest open November 1, 2026 and close February 1.
