What you'll need
Annual contest for US students in grades 7 to 12 attending public, private, parochial, or home schools. For 2026-27, students write a sonnet, villanelle, or free verse poem from the perspective of an everyday soldier during wartime and submit an annotated bibliography citing at least five sources. The contest opens October 26, 2026 and closes January 22, 2027, and first place in each of the two grade categories wins $750.
