USA Astronomy and Astrophysics Organization (USAAAO)
What you'll need
A national astronomy competition for high school students. Anyone may take the First Round Exam, a roughly 75 minute multiple choice test proctored in person, and students above the cutoff advance to the National Astronomy Competition, a free response exam of about 2.5 hours. Only high school students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents can qualify for the national team. In 2026, registration ran January 1 to 31 and cost $30 per student.
