Deadline strategy
Start in August, not January
Gates, Questbridge, and Dorrance all open in the fall. Students who wait until spring miss the highest-dollar awards.
AZ-specific awards have less competition
The Flinn, Dorrance, and ASU Obama Scholars are open only to AZ residents. Smaller national pool = better odds for qualified applicants.
