National Academy of Engineering
What you'll need
An annual national writing contest run by the National Academy of Engineering through its EngineerGirl/EngineerTeen programs. Open to US students in grades 3-12 (with a dedicated High School grades 9-12 category), students respond to a yearly themed prompt; the 2026 theme was 'The Art of Engineering,' pairing a created work of art with a written statement. Winners receive cash prizes and publication on the EngineerTeen website.
