Becoming a physician assistant runs on two things most: a strong science record and a stack of real, hands-on patient-care hours. Here's the roadmap, so you can build the experience that PA programs actually look for.
Patient-care hours set PA apart — start them early
A strong science GPA gets you in the door, but direct patient-care hours are the requirement that defines the PA path. Get a healthcare job, log the hours, shadow real PAs, and don't be afraid to spend a year or two working before you apply — most applicants do.
Keep going: weigh a biology degree, compare the pre-med roadmap, and check if it will pay off.
