Arizona's agriculture industry is bigger than most students realize — from cotton and lettuce production in Yuma to dairy in Maricopa County. FFA is the anchor CTSO for this pathway.
Stage 1 of 4
AZ schools with strong ag-CTE programs (rural districts, plus surprising urban anchors like Mesa) offer Agriscience, Animal Science, Plant Science, Mechanics, and Natural Resources tracks. Each maps directly to FFA event categories.
Stage 2 of 4
FFA chapters maintain SAEs (Supervised Agricultural Experiences) — long-running individual projects students develop over multiple years. Plus competitive Career Development Events covering everything from Veterinary Science to Agricultural Communications.
Stage 3 of 4
AZ ag summer is its own ecosystem: U of A Cooperative Extension internships, AZ farms hiring summer help, USDA + AZ Game & Fish Department youth programs, county fairs as exhibition season for SAEs.
Stage 4 of 4
Senior year: applications to AZ ag programs (UA CALES — strongest in the state, ASU Polytechnic ag systems, NAU Forestry & Environmental Sciences). AZ ag careers span production, research, policy, and the growing controlled-environment ag (CEA) sector.
