How an Arizona high schooler moves from a business-curious 9th grader into the AZ business workforce. Mapped to ADE's CTE pathway framework with FBLA as the anchor CTSO.
Stage 1 of 4
Foundational business + math classes lock in the academic credentials. AZ high schools with strong business CTE programs offer Accounting, Marketing, Personal Finance, and Computer Applications — all align with FBLA event categories and dual-enrollment pathways.
Stage 2 of 4
Joining FBLA in 9th-10th grade and progressing through the chapter calendar — local meetings, area conference, State Leadership Conference (SLC), and qualifying for National Leadership Conference (NLC). Competitive events build a portfolio judges and admissions officers actually look at.
Stage 3 of 4
Summer experience separates competitive scholarship applicants from generic ones. Paid internships at AZ employers (Honeywell, Intel, ASU/UA labs, local Chambers of Commerce) and intensive summer programs (ASU JBMSHP, ASU Polytechnic Pre-College Engineering, FBLA-NLC if qualifying) build the senior-year resume.
Stage 4 of 4
Senior year converts the pipeline into outcomes — applications to AZ business programs (ASU W. P. Carey, UA Eller, NAU Franke), scholarships (Flinn, Coca-Cola, Stamps, HSF), and direct paths into the AZ business workforce. Returning AZ FBLA alumni become the next chapter of advisors and employers.
